Support for professional and recreational cricket

It’s a difficult and uncertain time for cricket clubs across the country, with the start of the cricket season being delayed until at least 28th May due to COVID-19. To help clubs with the financial impact during these uncertain times, there are a few support options available:

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced a £61 million package to support elite to grassroots cricket clubs against the financial impact of COVID-19.

The ECB Board have made £40m immediately available, with £20m for recreational cricket to become available through a cricket club support loan scheme, ‘Return to Cricket’ grants and a 12-month holiday on loan repayments.

In addition, the Sport and Recreation Alliance has announced a £195m package to support sport and physical activity through COVID-19. Finally, the ECB have announced through the guidance of the Government Department for Culture, Media and Sport, that essential work on sports grounds can continue. As with all work practices, groundsman must adhere to social distancing.
