Soil donations to RHS flower Show

Date: Category: Boughton News

Boughton have donated an artic load of our natural topsoils to The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023, supporting a number of incredible builds with a range of our natural, single source and sustainable soils.

Here’s a look at the designers that we’ve supported this year:

Fauna & Flora International

We are humbled to donate a bespoke soil mix to Fauna & Flora in support of their garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2023. Designed by award winning designer Jilayne Rickards, and landscaped by Tecwyn Evans (Living Landscapes) their garden display captures a real life gorilla trek through the lush changing landscapes of Central Africa.

Fauna & Flora deeply care about and have been working to conserve mountain gorillas since 1978, following a meeting with Vice-President Sir David Attenborough, where conservation efforts led to the establishment of the Mountain Gorilla Project, the success of which went on to become the International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP), a collaboration between multiple conservation partners.

Boughton supplied a special soil mix of 80% PAS100 compost and 20% single sourced, Natural Topsoil to produce a blend that better visually represents African soil for the project, whilst also remaining workable and supportive of the displays plants. The end result on the garden is truly inspiring and we encourage all visitors of the show to visit the stand and experience the visual spectacle: Stand Number – CFS23

Rosemary Coldstream – Feels like Home

Boughton have supplied bags of The Real Soil Company’s Vegetable & Fruit topsoil to multi award winning garden designer Rosemary Coldstream, to support her garden display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023. The natural garden display was heavily inspired by Rosemary’s childhood in New Zealand, where the plants, colours and natural materials used to create the green oasis have all been carefully selected to unify the theme and promote a relaxed ‘feels like home’ vibe.

The Savills Garden

Boughton are thrilled to have supplied Bulk Bags of our 100% natural single source BLS 40 topsoil to multi award winning designer Mark Gregory, to support the construction of The Savills Garden at The Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden combines ornamental and edible plants in the style of a tranquil retreat, fully sourced from renewable and eco conscious materials. In the heart of the garden is a working kitchen and dining area where guests can enjoy meals prepared from ingredients supplied by the garden display, a true plot to plate experience!
